Abstract Parabolic trough solar collector systems are the most advanced concentrating power technology for large-scale generation purposes. The current work reviews various selective coating materials and their characteristics different designs in power. Solar absorbing coatings collect radiation convert it to heat. To promote higher efficiency lower energy costs at temperatures requires, this study aims analyse fundamental chemistry thermal stability of some key currently being used even under investigation find reasons differences, information gaps potential improvement results. In recent years, several novel useful absorber have been developed. However, qualification test methods such as corrosion resistance, testing prediction service life, which essential technical value absorbers, lacking. Coatings enhance performance reflectors absorbers terms quality, efficiency, maintenance cost. Differentiated required there no uniformly perfect applications, working conditions material variations. Much more knowledge physical chemical properties durability is required, will help prevent failures that could not be discovered previously.
